
The Union City Bears Varsity Football team traveled to Cambridge Springs High School to take on the Cambridge Springs Blue Devils in a non-region game on Friday night, hoping to end the season on a high note and get to three wins on the season. The Bears would win the coin toss and defer so the Devils would receive the ball first going on a 55-yard opening drive for a touchdown and going up 6-0. On the next Devils possession, they would score on a 43-yard touchdown run, going up 14-0 to end the first quarter. Late in the first half down three scores, the Bears would begin to get going on offense taking the ball all the way down to the Devils 25-yard line, but were unable to finish it off, as the Bears turned the ball over on downs. The Devils would try to get one last score before the half, but Stevie Klakamp would intercept the ball as the half would come to a close with the Bears down 22-0. The Bears received the ball to start the second half after deferring the coin toss which resulted in a punt; however, the Devils returner fumbled the ball and Logan Slaney recovered, and the Bears would take over at the Devils 39-yard line in great field position but were unable to take advantage as the drive would result in a turnover on downs. The Devils would go down and score a touchdown and after three quarters the Bears were down 30-0. The Bears best drive of the game would take place early in the fourth quarter, as the offense would take the ball all the way down to the Devils 21-yard line, but the Bears were unable to finish it off, and the drive would again end with the Bears turning the ball over on downs. The final score of the game would come on a 70-yard touchdown run by the Devils, as the Bears would fall to the Devils 37-0 in the final game of the season, finishing the year with a 2-7 (1-4) record.
