On what was a picture perfect night for Friday Night Football under the lights on Friday evening the Union City Bears Varsity Football team led by first year coach Mike Wydro took the field at Bears Stadium to take on the Kennedy Catholic Golden Eagles. It was all Union City throughout the first half as the Bears started the game off with a 60 yard touchdown drive on their first possession of the game. The Bears would finish with three first half touchdowns making the score 20-0 going into the break. The Golden Eagles came out of the Halftime break with a better gameplan as they would score their first points of the game. The Bears held off a late charge by the Golden Eagles to win the game 26-20 ending a ten game losing streak and earning coach Wydro his first career win. The Bears (1-1) will be on the road next Friday at Eisenhower (2-0) in their first region game of the season.
