Racoon Refuse is no longer in business, but the PA Department of Environmental Protection has ordered the firm to clean up its dumping station in Spartansburg. State regulators want the job done this week plus proof by next week. Titusville, meanwhile, is tasking its public works department to pick up trash and garbage until a new vendor is hired. The Erie County Executive continues to work with communities in his jurisdiction to solve the problem. Racoon Refuse had about 15,000 customers in Erie, Crawford and Warren counties.
